While I have enjoyed a few in the past (Kono Suba and No Game No Life come to mind), I find many works in the genre to be little more than tacky wish fulfillment. It's refreshing in the sense that the characters aren't obnoxiously objectified/sexualized while fighting. The plot alone doesn't keep me hungry for more even as an isekai.
